Only luxury restaurants with a first class service? It might not be enough to enjoy Paris 100%, because there are so many informal and casual places which serve great foods and wines in Paris.

Today, I recommend you one of them, La Cave à Michel. This is a standing bar where locals enjoy light meals accompanied with great wine.

You will see another side of Paris at La Cave à Michel, which is more real life of Paris.

The Talented Chefs

La Cave à Michel is a joint venture between the chef, Romain Tischenko, and the caviste, Fabrice Mansouri.

Tischenko won France’s Top chef in 2010 and opened his own restaurant, Le Galopin, in Place Sainte-Marthe. While he works there during day time, La Cave à Michel operates as a wine shop.

Since evening, Tischenko comes over to La Cave à Michel and starts cooking again.

The kitchen is really tiny, however Tischenko serves plates very speedy one by one, and during Tischenko is preparing, Mansouri entertaisn the guest with great wines.

The great team-work makes everything work out perfectly in the small kitchen.

The Wide Wine Selections

Wine lovers are spoiled at La Cave à Michel. They stock 300 wines and Mansouri has a great knowledge of them.

Their natural wine selection is wide from Loire, Beaujolais to Burgundy and they always get the good one at the moment.

In addition to the great wine, La Cave à Michel made a partnership with Gallia and create own beer.

Try this after enjoying several glasses of wine.

The Tapas-Style Menu

The various tapas are served from the small kitchen.

They have a lot of options for you: Beef tartare beneath ricotta salata, Mozzarella with salmon roe, Galician octopus grilled with organic aubergine, Basque peppers stuffed with yoghurt and tarragon, clams with the soubressade…etc.

Each of them will be a good company of wine. And the small portion tapas let you sample various taste which Tischenko creates.
