It is very famous among locals and tourists alike and always filled with them. As well as authentic foods, the atmosphere transforms you to the past.

What You Can Have

What Old China Cafe mainly serves is Nyonya cuisine. Nyonya cuisine is the traditional cuisine in Malacca and is a combination of Chinese and Malay cuisine.
Most of foods are cooked with herbs and spices such as clove, star anise, cinnamon, turmeric, galangal, candlenut, lemongrass, torch ginger and kaffir lime leaves.
While most dishes can be on the spicy side, they also have less spicy ones such as soya beans or tamarind. So even kids can enjoy their dishes.
Kuala Lumpur doesn’t have many places which serve Nyonya cuisine, hence you can not miss Old China Cafe.
The Vibe

Old China Cafe is like an old house and has very unique atmosphere.
First of all, what catches your eyes is two large mirrors facing each other, which is called feng shui mirrors. The Chinese believe it brings or reflects perpetually good luck.
Many pictures, photos and calligraphy scrolls on the wall represent Nyonya culture, and wood paneling and dim lights make it somewhere deserted and old days style.
This place has not been unchanged for a long time and the fading Chinese community’s old social life remains at Old China Café.
The Menu
Their menu is wide and you will have a lot of choices such as he fish head curry, Laksa, Nyonya Fried Chicken…etc. However most of you don’t have any ideas how those dishes are like. Hence here let me suggest three recommended menu for you.

Look that beautiful blue rice. The rice is cooked with a coconut cream and tinged with the natural essence of the blue pea. It is a traditional way to cook rice in Nyonya culture.
The rice itself doesn’t have a much flavor but will be a fun twist.
The Dessert and Coffee

For the dessert, sago with gula melaka is recommended. The tapioca is served with the coconut cream and dark palm sugar syrup.
The texture is very springy and bouncy but not to chewy. It is a very lovely dessert especially girls like.
Old China Cafe serves Malacca coffee, which is roasted in butter and cocoa. It has a flavor like a Chinese tea and has very mild taste. Please enjoy it with adding extra sugar and milk.
