Have you ever been in Paris and paid an exorbitant amount of money for food, that wasn’t worth its price?

This tends to happen a lot in Paris, one of the most visited cities by tourists from all over the world.

To protect you from being fooled by tourist traps,I recommend visiting “Bistrot Victoires”, which is said to be the most affordable bistro in Paris’ 1st district.

It is located near Louvre and definitely a local spot. You can have most of the menu for around 10€.

A True Parisian Experience

When you reach the front of Bistrot Victoires, the brown rustic-styled exterior gives you the feeling, that something truly Parisian is awaiting you inside. And I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Once you open the door, there is a huge counter with an array of bottles, polished wooden tables and chairs and very busy waitresses. This is how a bistro in Paris is supposed to be.

Bistrot Victoires is always full of locals and even though it can get quite noisy inside, it is the perfect background music to your truly Parisian experience.

Is The Starter A Must?

As for the starter, I recommend the “Salade Landaise”. This is a really huge salad with hams, foie gras and confits of canard. Additionally, the salad is topped with a lot of meats and vegetables, so that you can not tell that it’s a salad, at first look.

Their “Salade Océane”, which is a seafood salad with salmon, shrimp and clams, is also great.

These salads are a good start to your meal, but portions are quite huge, so I recommend you to choose either a starter dish or a main dish, sharing the starter with your group, is a good idea as well, so as not to fill yourself before the main dish.

The Top 3 Recommended Menu

When you take a look at other tables, you will notice there are clearly particular menus, people order more frequently, those are listed below.

1)Steak frites
It looks great with thyme which is still burning on the steak. The smell is appetizing and the fries on the side are also great.

2)Confit du canard
The canard is tender and juicy. It is absolutely worth more than the price.

3)Roast chicken
The chicken is tasty, of course, but more than that, some people fall in love with the mushed potatoes on the side.

If you go to other places in Paris, you will end up paying a lot more for the food, some times even twice the price you pay at Bistrot Victoires. So taking that into consideration, you want to give 5 stars for all dishes.

The Desserts

If you skip either the starter or main, it is turn for the desserts.

Their “Creme brûlée” is the dessert people are raving about. It is served in big portions and offers an amazing mix of creaminess and vanilla.

Their “Profiterole” is another must. It is small creme puff shells filled with vanilla ice cream. They pour more-than-enough chocolate sauce and almond slices on top of it, which will definitely bring you to heaven.

All desserts are around only 5€, hence please do not leave without having them.

Bistrot Victoires gets crowded at lunch time, so arriving there early is definitely smart. But not too early, as they only open at 12 o’clock. You will be allowed inside and can take a seat, however the waitress are having lunch. Hence you will have to observe it for a while with leaving your hunger on side.

But don’t take me wrong. All waitresses there are so lovely and attentive. They speak English as well.

If you expect first class service and dishes, this is not the place for you. At Bistrot Victoires, try to enjoy the casual vibe, and the relief of not being forced into having sophisticated conversations or strict table manners.
